Ion Game Design (ION) is a Swedish board game developer, publisher & board game consultant agency. We believe in the potential of boardgames as and art form, an excellent form of social relations and a creative tool. Since 2018 we also publish all Phil Eklund's games under the label Sierra Madre Games (SMG). Together we develop educational boardgames covering a broad range of subjects in science, history, prehistory, and natural history. There are the three main divisions in the product portfolio of Ion Game Design: ION:SMG - Under this label we mainly make “heavier” historical & scientific board games in the “hobby” category. ION:LIGHT - Under this label we publish our lighter games, geared towards family settings, with a lesser degree of complexity, without loosing the inspiration from reality in our designs. ION:VENTURE - We will from time to time work with potential projects alongside our main labels. This can be: - Partnerships with other board game developers and developers of digital games. - Consultancy in (board) game design. - Development of games outside our two main focus areas. - Game related activities such as fairs, conventions, competitions, demonstrations to promote it’s games and generally expand the hobby. - Business ideas that does not necessarily include game design but that do include games :)
