I wouldn't wish this place on any woman. Maybe I was unlucky. However, it was one of the more nonchalant and insulting experiences I have had as woman at the gynecologist. After being told I was well into peromenopause and only had one ovary still functioning. I was treated as if there was nothing more to talk about. When I asked about a suitable birth control since I was still ovulating occasionally was given a shrug of the shoulders followed by its unlikely you could get pregnant. But not impossible? No, but unlikely. That is not enough for me. The attitude was, well what would be the big deal if you did get pregnant. I said that I had 0 inntention of having a child at my age. Still refused to have a serious discussion about birth control, for example an IUD. Just test your odds. When I asked if there is anything else I should know about peromenopause, nothing. The information was your in it. It was a joke. I have learned more from the ex wife of Neil Gallagher, singer from Oasis if you're too young to understand the reference, and her menopause blog. This wasnt a language barrier. I speak Swedish fluently, just not great at writing in Swedish. Basically, what I came away with was get over it. I did it so just get on with it. When is peromenpuase going to be taken serious especially by female practitioners.
