Gustaf Adolfs torg is a town square located in central Gothenburg, Sweden. It was named Stortorget until 1854 when a statue of the founding father of Gothenburg, king Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden was raised. It is nice place at Brunsparken to chill.

It is a nice place to enjoy the essence of the Gothenburg city. In front of the square one of the canals flows which is connected to the sea. Tourist boats sail through the canal. There's a big statue of Gustav Adolf placed in the centre of the square. There are so many people sitting in the benches passed their time talking with friends or simply sit idle. Beautiful birds are chirping and jumping for food from the strangers.

Centrally located and as long as you pass by the shopping street you will see it. Nothing too special if only for sightseeing but if you are interested in history and know the historical background of it, it will be another story. Same as most of the places in Sweden, summer time is much nicer and you will see many people hang out there. Empty in winter.

Beautiful and scenic with lots of buildings dating to the swedish East India company prominence in the 1800s. Canal/water gives the place a bit of elegance reminiscent of Copenhagen. Certainly worth walking through as you're touring Gothenburg. They even have some small restaurants/bar/coffee shops that are open late (at least on Fridays). Highly recommended!
