Service was top. The place itself was quiet and cozy. The food was good but nothing special. You come here for the atmosphere not for dining. A nice Wednesday or Friday evening venue.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant and bar. I loved the slightly old fashioned quirky interior with all the paintings on the walls. The staff were very friendly and chatted to us as we sat at the bar for a cocktail. The pizza looked delicious but I didn't eat here. Would definitely recommend.
We did have a great dinner in Taverna Averna. Nice ambiance and staff was friendly and helpful...a good start of the evening. Started with Lantchips followed by a very good pizza! Quality of food was of good level for a reasonable price.

Nice place for cocktails, the bartender who served us was really experienced and recommended two of his experimental cocktail combinations (not on the menu), which tasted really good! The place looks stylish as well.
I know 4 stars is still supposed to be good, but in this day and age anything below 4.5 seems to have people questioning things. Let me tell you though, we were blown away by this place. Completely unexpectedly fantastic. We got to Goteborg quite late and by the time we checked into the hotel and got our act together, most places were closed, including the restaurants everyone recommended online and at our hotel. We were happy to see Taverna Averna open, and expected a mediocre meal at best, but man did they deliver. All dishes were flavourful, beautifully presented, and just downright good. We opted for all the seafood dishes, and you would be hard-pressed to tell us we were not eating at a 5-star seafood restaurant. Best thing too was that it really was quite inexpensive, relatively speaking, and the service was fantastic. As was the apple cardamon snaps. Full recommendation for this lovely, hip, spot.
