Unlike the freaking cold weather, the people in Kiruna is charming. The town has a couple of good public places to go to see the northern lights (one of the best being the Lousavaara) and there are a lot of excursions you can do from dogsledding to sleeping in a cabin to see the lights. The only problem is that the prices are way high. Whether the rewards you can get from them are worth it or not is up to each one.

Very interesting place to visit. Largest iron mine in the world with the best iron ore - a source of famous Swedish steel. The primary ore is magnetite, but they process it to hematite pellets that finally require less energy to convert it to quality steel.

Great guided tour of one of the world's largest and most modern iron mines. Bus leaves from the tourist center in Kiruna and then into the darkness. Tickets booked directly at the tourist center and even online. Tours in English or native Swedish.

This amazing place is a must visit if you travel to Kiruna. They have fun things about space and you get to discover the far north in Sweden. The staff are very friendly and they will guide you and tell you about the top places nearby to catch the Aurora Borealis lights in winter.
