Lodge Langhalsen is very spacious, cosy and clean. It's close to woods and a lake, and is perfect for a large family or group of friends for a getaway. Maud is a very efficient host who kindly answered a lot of our queries very quickly, and helped with food shopping for a reasonable charge, as we didn't hire a car. We booked it as three families with young kids for a long weekend in the snow. We were lucky to actually get lots of lovely fresh snow in the end of January, for the second half of our trip (though February might have been a safer bet). It's an easy Ryanair flight from London Stansted to Stockholm Skavsta airport and a 10-minute taxi drive to the lodge (best pre-book taxi online, as the rate is cheaper). The lodge is in a very picturesque spot, and even though the road is close by, it's very quiet. There's a bus stop 100 m down the road, and it's a 15 mins bus ride to Nykoping, a nice town with a few things to do even on Sundays, and a train station with trains to Stockholm (1hr 5 mins journey). The bus to Nykoping doesn't go very often (every two hours!), but an up to date timetable makes it easy enough to get it right. Nykoping castle is free and an interesting place to visit, but is only open on Sundays most of the year! There's a supermarket in the high street of Nykoping that we used a few times, with a wine shop next to it ( though you can't buy wine on a Sunday). Swedish supermarkets only sell beer, but no wine. There's also a bigger supermarket on the outskirts of Nykoping a few mins drive from the lodge, if you hire a car. Overall we had a lovely break, and the lodge was great, for both adults and kids.
