Wonderfully located right on the water. Genuine feeling and super friendly staff which are actually all volunteers. I was there for the Cultural festival and it was chilled out and relaxed with great music. Even though there might not be an event its still worth a visit because of the authenticity. Kids have space to run around exploring nature. Don't forget to bring swimming gear if the weather is nice since there is a lovely beach right next to the viking village.

This place is a hidden gem for anyone that loves Vikings, their crafts and culture. The village main house have just been restored after a devastating fire that left the village maimed. Throug dedication and fine craftsmanship, the villagers have rebuilt the longhouse with era accurate design. Its truly a work of art! The village is populated with families that dress authenticity for the viking age, you are welcome to experience the daily life in the village. There are several houses built from the ground up, all in era specific style. The view overlooking the gravesite hosting some 160 graves, and the view of the lake is astounding. Travel here and experience the dedication and passion for the Vikings. Children and adults are both welcome, though be mindful, you will be guests in the tight family of the village.
Excellent attempt to preserve the Viking era. We were told that they have been running this place since past 22 years successfully. And rightfully so! Upon entering the premises, one can get the feeling of walking around the Viking soil, watching the Vikings live. They have people dressed as the Vikings, adult Vikings, Viking children and so on. They have created the Viking village with convincing landscapes compelling the visitors to imagine the Vikings lifestyle and more. They have invested lot of time and effort to exhibit authenticity worth the admiration. It was worth the drive!
Cool place to visit with family. Not very big but I understood all workers there are volunteers and some of them actually live there during the season. Lots of information about viking era and small workshops to demonstrate historic handcraft with possibility for you to try them self.
Nice viking village. Only open certain times of the year so check first. Looking by a lovely lake and several authentic looking viking buildings including a big hall.
Really good experience about viking: food, games, culture, rowing viking ship.
Great Viking village.
fantastic place, all staffs there are volunteers who just wanna keep the real viking culture. They will live in the vikingabyn for a while, which is the only period that the vikingabyn opened in a year. They will show people the real lifestyle of vikings, and you can be part of it, enjoy it, best experience.
