The methodology "Arbetsmarknadscoaching" (coaching jobseekers) was developed by Karin Tenelius who coached a large amount of jobseekers in Sweden in the the 1990s. More than 1000 people have attended our courses and the best selling book "Coaching jobseekers" is used as course literature at several universities that educate counselors in jobcoaching. The crucial difference in this way of coaching is that you conduct a dialogue where you (the coach) listen for an unproductive attitude that is preventing the coachees from achieving the outcome they want. You then give the coachee an opportunity to shift his/her attitude from an unproductive to a productive one. This shift impacts on the outcomes dramatically. The technique is very efficient and not time-consuming once you are skilled in conducting it. In one session you can create circumstances for real change that make the jobseeker act differently and take more responsibility in his or her jobseeking project. The dialogue involves a high degree of straight-forward feedback in order to define what is really hindering getting a job. To learn the technique you need to take a good look of your own way of relating to the people you coach which means you have to face your weeknesses and find out the traps or pitfalls you usually fall in. To master the technology is a matter of how much you train and how much feedback you are willing to consider.
