Openhack is a social company and collaborative community creating solutions to pressing societal & humanitarian challenges through open source development. Our virtual and physical hackathons serve as the foundation of our community where innovations are sparked to life. This is where we bring futurists, policymakers, aid organizations, civil society representatives and industry experts to work together. Since OpenHack was first founded in 2015 as a non-profit project under Engineers Without Borders (EWB) we have organized nine humanitarian hackathons, each with over 100 registered participants from all over Sweden. We have collaborated with over 25 humanitarian organisations and worked on over 50 challenges. In 2016 we got awarded the title "Digital inspirer of the year, 2016" by IDG Sweden.
