The Swedish National Committee for UN Women focus – based on an agreement between the National Committee and UN Women, on three main areas: Information/education Advocacy/lobbying Fundraising The Swedish National Committee for UN Women works within information/education in the following fields: Raise awareness in Sweden about CEDAW through information campaigns, capacity building, conferences, partnerships Raise awareness in Sweden about violence against women and trafficking through information campaigns, capacity building, conferences, partnerships with mainly labor unions Raise awareness in Sweden about UN Women´s work, women’s rights at information events such international women’s day 8 Mar, UN Day 24 Oct and UN Day against violence against women 25 Nov. The Swedish National Committee supports the mission of UN Women through membership programs and fundraising efforts to support UN Women programs worldwide. The Swedish National Committee organizes it´s individual members in about 15 local chapters and also have other Swedish women’s rights organisations as members. The annual meeting is held every year in April. The Swedish National Committee for UN Women is headed by a highly active board and the current President is Ms Monica Green. The secretariat is based in Stockholm and is headed by acting Executive Director Petra Engberg.
