Vironova Medical AB is a Swedish drug discovery and development company founded in 2015 as a spin-off from Vironova AB. We develop small molecule drugs with a focus on herpes and influenza. Our portfolio consists of patented antiviral compounds with a novel mode of action, currently in the preclinical stage of development. What makes us unique is our chemical process technology for the thionation of drug molecules. We have developed a new process and thionation reagent – JBR - both patented by Vironova Medical. This provides us with a powerful tool to create new compounds in-house as well as license out the technology for others to use. The company is based on research at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Our CEO, Prof. Emeritus Jan Bergman has played a significant role in its development with extensive experience in organic molecules and their application in drug design. We continue to work closely with Vironova, sharing premises at Gävlegatan in Stockholm, where our office and organic chemistry lab is located
