The Culture Initiative's goal is to encourage local cultural organizations (music, dans, art, literature) and spirited individuals to create initiatives around the country in an effort to welcome all foreign-born, not least young people, to participate in cultural activities. If we help, newly arrived people may otherwise be left outside our society; which for Sweden would mean an enormous waste of human resources and, at worst, a social threat. For the individual, a failed integration may mean anything from a slow adjustment to personal tragedy. Throughout Sweden there are cultural organizations, some brand new, others with longer history in their respective towns. They are open & inclusive, and can give the new arrivals an insight into the culture of their city, and of Sweden as a whole. They can also present both locals and newly arrivals opportunities to meet and get to know each other in the positive spirit these associations stand for.
