2018: I have had a very good personal working experience when I was employed as a hospital care personnel for about 5 yrs during the middle 90's at the Akademiska Sjukhuset or Uppsala University Hospital. I had a career or job break then from another Hospital & another region. As a permanent resident of Uppsala City since 2011, I consider it a privilege to receive excellent care & treatment as a patient in this hospital. Very professional, kind, attentive & helpfull hospital staff personnels as I have experienced last February 2018 for my hip prosthesis operation & most recently last week of October 2018, for my lower back operation. Efter my last operation Oct. 25, 2018 in the Neurosurgical Department, I have again have the opportunity to do my post-operative physiotherapy, period Nov. 2018 to end of January 2019 in Uppsala University Hospital, Building 85, Neuro-Sciences & Physiotherapy. Well equipped & spacious gym with the presence & guidandce of very professional & well trained physiotherapist.

They misdiagnosed a stroke for a migraine that later was correctly identified at another hospital. Moreover, the experience at the hospital was terrible. Some examples: (i) I was freezing and they didn't provide me with any blanket; (ii) I vomited on me and they left me for hours covered in my own vomit while I was unable to know my name, personal number or where I was; (iii) due to the state of confusion, I asked several times where I was in order to explain to my family when we were on the phone. The nurse was annoyed by the repetition of the question and ended putting a post-it with \Akademiska\ in my forehead, that I was obviously unable to read. Moreover, (iv) they performed on me a lumbar puncture without explaining the risks. I ended having a \lumbar puncture syndrome\ consequence of the wrong performance (2 weeks in bed). In other occasions, I have met good professionals in Akademiska, but based on that experience I would not qualify Akademiska as a hospital but as a \slaughterhouse\. I am considering to move to Stockholm to have access to Danderyd or Karolinska in case of need.
great service!
I've had a horrible experience here. They will make you wait for hours just to talk to a doctor and when you finally do, one would expect to be listened to and be taken seriously. Surprise surprise, the opposite was true. I was not listened to. I was just shoved some questionnaires and even though they showed I need help, they still refused to help me. I'm going to have to wait for weeks, maybe months, to get the medication and help I need. Although I do understand this is the way Sweden works, it's ridiculous and idiotic. No one should have to wait this long for help. It can't be that only the severe suicidal get treatment when they need it. I may be not that acute but I'm still in great need of help, help they refused to give. This is why Sweden has a high suicide rate, people.
Worst hospital ever
Great hospital!
Undvik om så möjligt! * Dålig tillgång till parkering. * Super dålig på ge information för kommande operation. * Super dålig att få hjälp efter operation.
