Even though it is not as imposing as it is on the photos, Uppsala Castle is definitely something that should be seen in person. Nowadays it has been reconstructed and with its unusual, very unique shape it is something that you are not able to see at other places.

Nice, looks pretty cool in the snow, still it is a bit lacking for a landmark.

Great place to learn about the history behind the castle. There's a museum and a cafe nearby aswell

Castle alone is not so exciting but overall Uppsala is nice place to visit. I'll take around 5-6 hours to cover all famous locations. Uppsala is must visit kind of place in Sweden. :)

Great ruins with lovely hour-long guided tour. Amazing how much of the original stonework remains from the mid-1500s. Spent 90 minutes here, very enjoyable. Cafe inside is excellent, plenty of rooms to find a seat and each room was a different temperature, which was fun. We were warm so we scouted the coolest castle room to enjoy our Cafe refreshments Huge bathroom is accessible, meaning setup for handicapped very nicely. There are two free museums on site as well as the ruins which charges small admission.

I showed up on a saturday 15 minutes before closing time and people welcomed me with smiles and took my backpack while I was visiting the museum, which was frankly beautiful and very clean. As a french person, it was nice to see that other countries also have free cultural places.
